As the concept of tiny homes is getting popular by the day, people are inventing more and more innovative ways to make the best of what they have got. Tiny homes actually allow people to become creative and think out of the box in decorating their little spaces. Sometimes this works wonders but most of the time people get confused and the result can sometimes be far from what you actually desired. The color scheme of the walls, the paint on doors and windows, upholstery and furniture. They all can seem to be easy to manage but one you start with the décor of your house and then you are stuck with questions like, “What should I do, where should I put this, is this color right, will this go with the furniture?” etc. We at Aura Interiors can be of great help in pulling you out of this “what to do” situation. We can manage to guide you into making the best decisions regarding your homes and make it an expression of your soul. With right tips and tricks, we can always do the magic of transforming an ordinary space into a living and attractive environment. Here are few tips that we would like to give to the small home owners which would not only make their small homes appear large but would also utilise all the space without making everything cluttered and packed.

  1. Color of the walls – There is nothing more of a greater significance than the colors of the walls. Walls are like the body of the house and they reflect the houses and house owner’s personality. So, they need to be the most beautiful in every aspect. For a small house, one should opt for using light colors as darker colors tend to dominate the space and make it look smaller. The colors on the wall can be the same or different for one or two walls within the same spectrum. This gives each wall its own personality and also looks contrastingly different without making the rooms look like the house of horrors.
  2. Texture on the walls – It is assumed that everybody likes smooth walls but you may add a little texture to the walls with paint or plaster which creates patterns on them. These can be anything from a vine to abstract designs. If you don’t like to do anything like this then you still have the options of painting certain natural or abstract designs on one or two walls or cover then up without beautiful wall papers.
  3. Using Reflective Surfaces – Using reflective surfaces can actually make a smaller space appear large. This can be achieved by adding tiles or reflective white lacquer which can make the space look posh and large. You may also use mirrors and lighting to make the space more airer.
  4. Utilising wall to wall area – A major problem with small houses is the arrangement of the living and dinning areas. Just because you have a smaller space that doesn’t mean that you are restricted to having no proper dinning or living space. But it also doesn’t mean that you should make your dining table the centre of attention. For small homes, it is best to have the dinning table placed in any one of the corners of the main hall or biggest room. Do the same with living room furniture. In this way, the furniture aligns with the room geometry and lots of space is saved for movement and keeping other decorations.
  5. Wall mounted furniture – This is one of the greatest achievements of the furniture and décor industry. These days it’s very common to invest in furniture which is multi-purpose and is easily foldable and the best type among such furniture is the wall mounted furniture. You can buy desks, table tops and even beds which can be mounted to the wall and when they are not need can simply be folded and kept vertically with the wall itself. When you need them, just slide them out and otherwise keep them snugged to the walls.
  6. Multifunctional furniture and small decorative items – Multifunctional furniture has been there in the décor industry for a very long time. It has evolved for the betterment of small home owners. You can use a sofa which turn into a bed or a coffee table which can turn into dinning table. Using this kind of dual or multifunctional furniture not only saves space but also creates less financial burden on the house owners.

Last but not the least thing to do is decorating your rooms with smaller objects than huge items. Don’t use exceptionally large lamps, rugs, side-tables etc. which not only occupy more space but also robs off the rooms of its personality and design. Placing huge decorations or accessories in small rooms just makes them stuffy and the focus shifts only on that particular object. Its like placing a grand piano in an elevator. So, use smaller but beautiful objects, have blending but a bit contrasting furniture and use the above tips and tricks. Your small house will surely become a cosy home for your loved ones and you. For everything which you need to make your house beautiful and any help that you need for designing its interior, Aura Interiors are always there to provide and help you out.
